SMZ SM Hedgemower

The SMZ hedgemower is a robust and versatile attachment designed for cutting and shredding hedges, scrubland and woody vegetation. The machine is suitable for cutting branches and vegetation up to approximately 5 cm in diameter, making it ideal for maintaining roadside verges, woodland edges, ditch banks and other green areas.

Several rotors are mounted underneath the machine, each equipped with six knives. Two knives cut the branches, while the remaining four further reduce the material into small chips. These chips fall directly between the hedge or vegetation, minimising the amount of clean-up work required after cutting.

The rotors are interconnected and rotate with a 3 cm overlap. This creates an efficient and complete cutting action. The rotors are driven by powerful piston motors, with the motor configuration matched to the hydraulic oil flow of the excavator or loader carrying the attachment.

Thanks to its double-rotor suspension, the hedgemower can be used in a variety of positions. Both the sides and the top of hedges and vegetation can therefore be reached effectively. The front of the machine is equipped with a hydraulically operated flap, which can be opened to allow longer material to enter the machine more easily. This also makes it possible to efficiently cut overgrown and poorly maintained hedges and scrubland.
